Even Angels Need To Rest

During weeks of feeling quite off and tired, I was obsessed with painting cherry blossom flowers and the resulting painting is attached. Painting each flower felt therapeutic. After the flowers were done, I then got obsessed with learning how to paint the feathers of the angel wings, and I mean obsessed! It took a whole night to finish the angel wings, and now looking back, it was exactly what I needed that night to quiet down my mind from remnants of negativity and sadness that stayed with me from the weeks before.

After having gone through that melancholic episode, I recommend you all to try this: go ahead paint flowers or angel wings when things feels off. Don't judge it, just paint with no expectation in mind of how it should look like. For me it felt hypnotizing and calming. Since I am no professional artist and learning to paint by myself (with the help of you tube art videos sometimes), my work has always been completed through trial and error. As there is no pressure about making mistakes or resulting in really ugly painting, what's important for me is the process of expressing what I see in my head to the canvas. I never regret what comes out, nor feel a need to defend it, and I won't brag about it either (as if I could!), because my paintings are quite simplistic and very amateurish. However, just like a kid proud of her art project, allow me to show my latest adventure in painting. I felt that this painting should be called: Even Angels Need to Rest.

And this is our subject for the day: Rest. What an interesting verb or an action word that is a non-action in a sense. Google says, rest means: "cease work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength." How little we value it, because we think what's more important are the real action words such as: doing, achieving, getting, moving...because we think that is what brings in results, the money, the whatever else we wanted. Rest then becomes an item on the calendar, a something to do scheduled on a vacation day, rather than recognized for what it can be:

For me rest is the time to connect to myself, to my inner I am so that I will remember why I am here, why I am doing the things I am doing in this day, this week, this lifetime. Rest is a going back to spirit, allowing silence to take over, so I can listen to my higher self's directions. Rest allows me to call back my soul so that when I go back to activity, I can really put my soul into what I do, so that it is not an empty ego hold of simply doing, doing, doing only for the sake of doing, but actually an allowing of the doing to be an expression of my soul.

Have you rested today? If not yet, take a moment for yourself. The worries and problems will still be there when you come back but for now, DROP EVERYTHING. Inhale and exhale deeply with hands to heart. Say to yourself: "I let you rest now." There is no other place to go to just recognize the place where you are as the place to be, no achievement to be achieved but simply feel a sense of freedom in this one magnificent instance of rest. Acknowledge your own presence in the space you occupy: "I am here, I am here, I am here. and I am resting." Acknowledge that where you are, it is impossible for this to be separate, therefore acknowledge that "God is here, God is here, God is here. and in His presence I am rested." Take a few more breaths in this space, close your eyes, and take as long as you need.

Rest your wings, my Angel, so that you can fly again.

God bless you.
